2019 | I was abroad (France, Belgium, Amsterdam) when my grandma in Illinois went into hospice, and she passed away shortly after I landed back in the States. I’d been sketching little scenes during my travels, hoping to finish them up when I returned to give her as a gift.

 

The first one is an abstract I made the day I knew she’d died; it was inspired by a photo of a flower I’d been intending to draw mixed with a candle. The second was from a lovely backyard in France that I’d been unsure how to end but knew she’d appreciate.
